Review Summary: A sloppy blend of brutal death metal and technicality. In short, a solid goregrind album.
The first thing I want to get out of the way is the vocals. It goes in two directions, low growling or howling, no in between. It can actually be quite irritating if you can’t ignore that, but once you do the album gets a lot better. I was actually surprised that there was a CD booklet with lyrics inside, since there's no way to tell whatever the vocalist is on about. Not like you’re missing much, since it's just about gore.
Speaking of the CD booklet, it also has a wall of text from the band, basically saying *** these people, these people are cool, various album and merch info, along with their influences. Those influences happen to be: Dying Fetus, Skinless, Decide, and Devourment, to name a few. Just as a point of reference.
Instrumentally, it has the typical tremolo picking and brutal riffs, but balances it out with sloppy, technical riffs. There’s also just enough variety to keep the listener engaged. I really like it when death metal bands make the bass audible, and the band even goes as far to let it shine momentarily.
Each track starts with a sample that pertains to the whole gore theme, which is a nice touch and adds a little variety. But there’s really not much to add more than that.
At the end of the day, SikFuk’s debut is nothing too spectacular, but still a fun and enjoyable listen. If you just want an album to headbang to constantly, this fits the bill.
For some reason some of the album tracks have two names despite being the same track, which I find as a confusing include. I’ll just try my best for the tracks worth checking out.
