Review Summary: A amazing album for the ages!
Today I am writing about Jute Gyte’s masterpiece, the ***ing /Versteigenheit/ black metal album! This album is my ***ing ***.
I don’t really know where to start so here is the first track, Gates of Day and Night.
Gates of Day and Night: Jute Gyte knows how to start an album off. So of course, he starts the album with a 9 minute tank of a track that is loaded with some of the coldest, harshest kvlt riffs you’ve ever herd. The riffs make me want to cut a man in half, they are that sharp! Anyway, the song keeps up hard drumming (or “blast beats”) til like seven minutes into the song where it changes to just low riffs. They are really REALLY heavy even without drummer and it only gets better from here. Soon enough, “whats that?” you ask, yeah thats’ a second guitar! The second guitar makes for a good segweigh into the second track, so lets talk about Apparition in the Woodlands at Dusk..
Apparition in the Woodlands at Dusk: Remember how ‘Gates of Day and Night’ ended with two guitars? Well Jute is really clever so he starts the second track at full volume, with another one of the “blast beat” I mentioned in the last song. About 2:10 in, the song changes to a really emotional guitar solo with one guitar playing a chorus riff (you achieve this with a chorus guitar pedal) and another guitar playing a really emotional solo. It seems easy but the way he is bending the notes is really hard (I know, I tried). His voice is really aggressive, kinda like black metal bands like gnaw Their Tongues (I have put one of there albums in the recommended artists section if you wanna check them out. But yea, the screams are a cold and desolate scream that really sends s shiver down the spine of the listener. At nine minutes and 50 seconds in, the main instruments go quiet and its just the chorus guitar but this time it has a phaser pedal on it too. This makes it do a sort of waving sound like you are traveling to another universe. It is ***ing cold! Then a slow, off beat drum comes in with another guitar and its really heavy but also complicated and you have to really think hard about the riffs to truly understand them hard. This is one of the best songs of the year, definitely!
The Light That Hangs Above the Fields: This begins with seriously intense drumming, the guitars are somehow even more intense, I don’t know how Jute Gyte does it but it’s ***ing amazing. The really strong vocals make this a perfect track, at around 2:50 he makes everything go even faster and the cold power will blow your mind! And guess what, at 4:30 he uses an ACOUSTIC-SOUNDING guitar (did I mention the guitar tone on this album is so great) and it showed how he use both loud and quiet in his music. The build up at 6:30 is epic, he used the part he already made and then just made it better by putting on another guitar layer that is super passionate. At the last 10 seconds everything is suddenly slow and it is a very surprising change that fits the next track that I gonna talk about.
Church Not Made with Hands: The ambience is so beautiful, there are these waves of sound that just come at you. This song really proves how smart Jute is, he knows how to use different sound and volume to create all these emotions. At 1:45 he plays a really cool-sounding instrument, I don’t know what it is but it actually makes me tear up because its that good! To all the haters who think kvlt music is just annoying, *** you and listen to this song.
Emblem of Fertile Blood and Death: While the ambience in ‘Church Made Not with Hands” is beautiful and creepy, ‘Emblem of Fertile Blood and Death” is just horrifying. The first sounds you hear are something out of a horror movie: really ice cold riffs and some monster sounding vocals before a MASSIVE EXPLOSION of noise and sound. This might be just the heaviest song I have ever heard and there is a good reason why this album is a 5.0 (if you haven’t rated it a 5, you probably listen to kendrick lamar). The screams are over twisted riffs that remind me a little bit of Dodhecadedron only faster, you know? Then all of a sudden, it all changes into a REALLY groovy riff that will make you bang your head and say “*** yeah”! The bass is really audible so listen on good speakers for good experience. Here in Brazil, my neighbours got really angry when I play this one really loud but *** them, I’m metal! m/ The song explodes again into loud blast beats (remember from the other songs?) and it gets super dark and twisted at the end like a horror movie just like it started. This bit really creeps me out if I am being truthful and I wanted to give the album a 4.5 because its so creepy!
The Frailty of Everything Revealed: The creepy sound continues into the penultimate track (second last). It reminds me a lot of the sound my neighbour’s lawnmower makes because it is so harsh and mechanical,. There are riffs up and down, and the vocalist makes a scream that is terrifying. There are lots of blast beats and it is even beautiful how much chaos there is here. It is like you are listening to one million knives in a tornado. I am not ***ing joking! It really suits the name of the song because everything is revealed! Jute’s guitar skills. The amazing drumming. The really good bass guitar. The phaser and chorus pedals even! It is all revealed on ‘The Frailty of Everything Revealed”. I was ***ing amazed the first time I listened and I am even more ***ing amazing the second time I listen! I have listened to /Versteigenheit/ many many times now and this song still is absolute gorgeous perfection. Definitely one of Mr Gyte’s best moments!
To Return and Revere the Desolate Places (Late Idyll): This is another just beautiful piece by Jute! In the beginning he plays these soft guitar notes and then adds another one with notes that are tuned in a weird way but it’s cool. Jute likes to call these random changes aleatorically. This song is really atmospheric, like its really slow but it makes you shiver because it’s creepy like the other two tracks I just talked about. Actually at 6:00 its really ***ing creepy because he makes these weird changes to the melody with both guitars. I looked up the word desolate and this song is like that, it makes me feel very lonely and I don’t want to listen to this at night because it is so ***ing scary.

Basically in conclusion, /Verstiegenheit / is probably the best Jute Gyte album he has ever written, and is one of my favorite albums of all time. The harsh cold riffs are ***ing scary and the atmosphere is beautiful. I listen to a lot of stuff that isnt metal but this is definitely good even if you prefer more stuff like EDM (intelligent dance music)! I rate this album 5.0/5 stars. Make sure to listen to it and enjoy the riffs!
