Jug's debut EP The Earth on the Turtle's Back has got some damn fine stoner riffs going for it. After a brief nautical introduction the Pennsylvanians launch the listener into a soup of medium-slow riffs, a thundering bass presence and tales about the sea, nautical mythology and, of course, lots of weed. Unfortunately, no track except 'Into the Cave' seems intent on trying anything different, and all tracks, despite their reasonably short lengths, get a tad wearisome as they approach their end.
