Review Summary: Long live rock music.

We all love rock music. It's basically etched in our society as it speaks to us not only in the United States but almost everywhere, by quickly becoming one of the most listened to genres of music in the entire world. During the 1960's, a new sound emerged from rock music called Psychedelic, challenging listeners of the genre to explore new ideas and sounds, usually while tripping on LSD. I've been following this Dutch-based Psychedelic rock band ever since they put out their very great album 'Prisoner' two years ago, but they've been going strong since 2010 when they put out their Debut album 'Make Things Happen'. The band is heavily influenced by the blues and psychedelic rock scene of the late 1960s and early 1970s, but also adding a bit of their own flavor as well which shines throughout this album. Their previous output 'Prisoner', quickly became one of my favorite listens of 2014. Although it didn't do anything new, it was a solid rock album, borrowing the sounds of The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and others to create a cohesive, enjoyable record. We now come to their most recent endeavor, 'Get Well'. which is a step above their previous material, as they decide to not only get well, but to also get crazy.

Now the first thing I really have to complement here is the Production. The guitars accompanied with the production create a murky and subdued, yet titillating atmosphere that gives the album a fresh feel to it sonically, sounding almost like they recorded their guitar playing underwater, then layered over everything else. A lot of the tracks on here also have ridiculously good drums, highlighted in songs such as 'You Got me Howling', 'Get Well', and 'Meet Me At The Bottom' where you can hear some awesome solos. I also felt that there is also a hint of post-rock influence especially in the 8 minute long title track that slowly builds up, then comes crashing down towards you with chaotic yells from the lead singer during the climax which will have you in goosebumps. The Lyrics and vocals from the singer Kevin Stunnenberg come in at full force on this album with dark melodies, while also being loud, harsh, and anxious. Sometimes the vocals get muffled by the loud guitars which can feel a little clustered at times, but makes up for it with its gritty, dynamic tones.

Where their previous LP was also solid in its own right, this album is definitely the band heading into a better and more daring direction. There's a lot to offer here if you are a psych rock fan or just a rock fan in general looking for something new. They are taking chances, while still keeping to their roots. Just like rock music is etched into our society, this band has it etched into their blood. They know where they came from, and they aren't holding anything back.
