In a nutshell, Malady's namesake debut lies among the best prog Finland or any other country has yielded in recent years, an underrated effort that's shadowed by criminally overrated outfits and works of similar ilk. Atmospheric, instantaneously drone-y (i.e. the break in "Unessakavelija" at the 4.00 mark or the ethereal vocals at the beginning and the end of "Aarnivalkea"), with carefully dispatched outbursts, Malady is an enticing journey, courtesy of a band that knows its craft from the get go.
