| 3.0 good | TheManMachine | January 30th 16 | Losing faith in God cuz of a post-prison cancer diagnosis, in women cuz they stressin' him, in men cuz they failin' him; considering a pooch purchase for some semblance of actual companionship: Boosie's goin' thru it alright, and throughout this wisely terse relentless downer of varying volumes it's his earnest charisma and unmistakable delivery that help you through a lethargic-by-nature aura and seize some real-life sympathy. And much like on last year's Touch Down 2 Cause Hell, the final track showcases a badazz w/ just piano that is downright touching, if perhaps a bit self-concerned this time around -- though given the circumstances, appropriate enough methinks.

| 3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | January 28th 16 | In My Feelings. (Goin' Thru It) is a brutally honest Southern Hip Hop album where Boosie Badazz pours out his emotions after going through yet another rough chapter of his life. The blunt delivery in 'Cancer' combined with the minimal, dark backtrack makes for a truly memorable song. The beats throughout are fairly simple and it forces the experience to rely almost entirely on Boosie who meets the challenge with his unique delivery and style. To be honest, without Boosie's character there wouldn't be anything else all that noteworthy here as much of the production is slapdash with variations in volume and a general sense that it feels rushed. Perhaps it needed to be as Boosie doesn't seem to have a confident outlook on life eventually asking how long he will last without his kidney. Boosie and the subject matter make for a rap record 100% worth listening to with The Rain, Cancer, Call of Duty and Smile to Keep From Crying making a great place to start.

| 3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | January 8th 16 | Some months after he was released from prison in early 2014, Torrance Hatch decided to change his stage name from Lil Boosie to Boosie Badazz, the reasoning being that he felt there was no need for the "Lil" now, as he was a grown man and a father, who had also been through his share of troubles. These troubles compounded in late November 2015, when it was revealed that he had kidney cancer. This new album, released on New Years, is a snapshot of his mindset, of his emotions, and his life in general. And it's not pretty at all. There are no "bangers" here, and there is no semblance of happiness. What there is, though, is Boosie laying it all out there, for the world to see. He's at his most vulnerable, his most personal, and the saddened, frustrated way in which he delivers his lines and the melancholy production really bring home the genuineness of his feelings. It's obviously not as readily enjoyable as other records from him, but in his discography, this is something of a unique listen.
