before starting US Maple, Al Johnson and Mark Shippy were rocking out with Shorty. this EP recorded by Albini was their last release. the music is as frantic and menacing as Shorty's earlier releases and Al doesn't disappoint either with his unhinged air&mouth sounds, but the overall sound of it is all wrong. the songs sound neutered. claws trimmed. check the singles and the full-length Thumb Days first. unfortunately that album isn't on the major streaming services. if you're stuck with streaming check the Kaput! single, which has a hilarious cover of Van Halen's Hot For Teacher as its side B
