It is such a refreshing experience when a band uses its influences as a road map and creates music which has its own identity. Render Unto Archarus with its awesome cover art and fantasy lyrics is influenced by Black Sabbath ("San Sabado" is such a nod to "Hole in the Sky"), NWOBHM, stoner and doom metal, and never lets go right from the beginning. The music is based on infectious grooves and is riff-driven with interesting drumming and fitting vocals; a modern comparison would be The Sword. If these guys manage to build on their formula and improve, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
