This mixtape is the closest thing Lil Bibby's has to a transitional project, shifting from the rawer, harder sound of
Free Crack and Free Crack II to a more conventional commercial sound that would be explored further
on Big Buckz. In this regard, Free Crack 3 is a bit of a hodgepodge, featuring some of the best and some
of the worst Bibby has to offer. In one breath ("Aww Man", "Made N****", "Killin' Me"), Bibby is forceful,
streetwise, comfortable, and engaging. In another ("Word Around Town", "Misunderstood"), he's boring, almost
disinterested, as if he knows these are the filler tracks. Luckily, the good moments surely outweigh the bad. The
production is solid and occasionally excellent, as it always is with Bibby, and though it's not that notable outside
of a couple choice cuts, it gets the job done. It'll be interesting to hear how he'll go about perfecting this sound or
changing sounds altogether on the upcoming Free Crack 4, that is, if he ever actually releases it.
