One of John Williams' best work for sure. The music fits the film's atmosphere absolutely perfectly to a degree that is
jawdropping. The movie itself is fine, but this score captures both looming threat and the mystery of extraterrestrial
visitors. It reminds me alot of Williams’s score to Jaws, not bc they sound similar or anything, but because they capture
the same heaviness of the phrase “something bad’s about to happen, but when?”

Not particularly melodic or pleasant to the ear, but as far as it intellectually and effectively serves the film, works excellently. Piercing the discord are scattered moments of ethereal beauty that are enhanced by the ugliness and tension surrounding them.
