If someone wanted an example of generic nu metal, this album would be one of the first to come to mind. The instrumentation in this band is so utterly unremarkable that it beggars belief. However, Sevendust's saving grace is their vocalist, Lajon Witherspoon, who just happens to be quite gifted. Whatever the case, his voice isn't enough to overcome the suffocating mediocrity rendered by his bandmates. On occasion they come up with a vaguely interesting idea, but more often than not this album is simply a case of groove, chugga chugga, groove, chugga chugga, until the listener is forced to press stop and hurl the disc out the window.
