Sukekiyo is a band that has yet to stick with me on a song by song basis. They have a sound that is in theory perfectly tailored for me, and features my favorite vocalist of all time. But something about the songwriting has yet to stick with me and become memorable outside a few songs. This mini album however kind of blew my mind, opting for a more straight forward and erratic mixture of progressive rock and Faith No More experimental flourishes, and it?s kind of phenomenal. The texture and atmosphere on display here is jaw dropping, at times feeling like The Mars Volta on meth. Every member is showing off great proficiency and creativity with the sounds and melodies on display, and the vocals are of course impressive. I just hope the rest of their discography clicks with me like this
