After releasing half the album in singles and videos, InMe finally got their act together and released their first full-length album. Thanks to the success of the songs they had released, this was always going to do well. However, it mainly stayed out of the mainstream, and it has since faded from memory. Which is a shame, as it’s a fair album.
Right, another track by track run down.
UnderDose – First single released, and the perfect introduction to InMe’s sound. The guitar sounds crisp, and the overall production is nice. A pounding bass line is present throughout, and we get the first example of Dave’s unique voice, with his high note and low growl parts. A simple song format, but it does well as an introduction.
Firefly – Some nice water sounding guitar effects start this one off calmly, until the bridge/chorus kick in, with its more thumping riff. Dave’s voice does some extremes again, getting nasty, but then calming. The second single, and a good 3:33 minute song.
Wounds – Begins again with some guitar effects and harmonics, before adopting the main riff. Dave’s melody isn’t the greatest here, and it is funny where his voice suddenly shoots up 2 octaves on the outro vocals.
Lava Twlight – More guitar effects, but a much better song. Sticks to a chorus/verse/bridge formula more, and the guitar parts again are pleasing to the ears. Heavier in parts, and a semi solo give this song more depth. Dave’s vocals do their usual scale coverage, but they don’t really take charge that much in this.
Natural – Some weird intro effects, before a familiar riff. The sense of repetition in the guitar department here is noticeable, but the vocals are better on this, with a nice melody,
Her Mask(p.a) – This tries so hard to be epic, it really does. Unfortunately, its to stop start, and apart from some good parts from each member, it really doesn’t work well. The first time Dave’s vocals really grate too.
Energy – Cool intro riff, which breaks down seamlessly into a mellow part. The lyrics are reaaally emo here though, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea. A lot of effects are put into this song to compensate for the repetitive nature to parts of the song. Although when he tries a death metal growl its comical to say the least, followed by more hilarious attempts at hitting notes he cant seem to get.
Crushed Like Fruit – One of InMe’s bigger hits, and its no surprise why. Skill lead guitar work, and some nice vocal sections make this a more solid effort, and its even catchy at times.
IceWarm – The intros remain unique, and in this cae, so does the song in general. It has a different feel to the rest on the album, more of an Incubus feel at times (ok, well I think it does). Dave sounds like a girl at times, but the bass has its moment, being the dominant force. The guitar is samey, but it’s a better track than most.
Trenches – Harmonics for the intro recipe this time, followed by a rare acoustic guitar appearance. Dave’s vocals take the lead, and even though his singing isn’t great, it goes well. When the song gets heavier, it keeps it shape, but up until the outro solo, its all still very repetitive. Terrible lyrics though in my opinion.
Neptune – What a cool song. My first reaction. A flanged intro riff, which is both catchy and audibly pleasing, followed up by the main riff, keeping the same melody. It repeats like any bog standard song, but it still has a unique feel to each part. The pop single of the album.
Mosaic – To finish, a pace-lead driving track. A smooth bass line, and a quirky guitar backing rounds off the album on a high note.

Most debuts will suffer from what InMe did. Some amazing tracks that got the record companies attention, to some really mediocre efforts. They will have this album as their foot in the door, and they have the ability to write some good songs. However, they need to work on creating solid albums.
