The debut full-length album by an Iranian band consisted of some young talents and
unfortunately their sole full-length so far. However they haven't split up and as long as
they stay together there is still hope. Music of Arsames is mostly a Thrashy, sometimes
even Groovy, kind of Death Metal clearly done by serious musicians. This seemingly
undying trend of Tharsh and Groove worship in even Black, Death and Doom lovers here may
be referred to the sovereignty of Metallica and Pantera, regarded as gods of Thrash and
Groove Metal. Their lofty position seems immortal - As another recurring element which is
Iranians undying love for memorable melodies; detectable in even Persian Metal.
The underground scene may be a challenging and difficult field all around the world and
of course creating Metal worsens this already challenging situation in many ways.
Now try to imagine the nearly impossible conditions of those daring this in a country
like Iran, still ruled by a none hold barred Islamic regime after more than 40 years.
And there is something else, not imaginable even by me as an Iranian: Arsames Comes from
Mashad, surely the most religious city of Iran! After all, the first album of Arsames is
too good to let us forget about them or stop waiting for their second one.
