3.3 great | Voivod STAFF | November 30th 14 | In view of its fair merit, Blood Battalion is an album that deserves to be heard at least once. While the lyrics are war themed, England's The Crimson Brigade don't sound as yet another Bolt Thrower/Hail of Bullets wannabe. Rather, they try to secure a location between goth, death/black and doom metal. The atmospheres are eerie due to the ever present "early '90s" keyboards, while there are some interesting arrangements in thefirst half of the record. The second half is not as strong, as as the song writing wears off due to the abundance (13) of album tracks. Favorite track: As the Vtlava Runs red (Under the Bridge of Corpses).
