This is a strange album. If youre not familiar with Sunn O))), then this will come as a surprise for you: Deep, droning guitars and double bass, with landslides of drums collapsing in on you.
From the start, Etna is a truly amazing song, 5/5. It makes me see visions of not only Volcanoes, but other murky, evil wastelands such as Mordor..
N.L.T's main theme is low, undulating double bass, which works well and this song doesnt drag as it is only 3 minutes or so long.
The Sinking Belle is a little bit of different experimentation, with clean delayed guitars and soft drums and vocals.. This song sends me off into a dreamlike state.
the rest of the album has 2 problems: Firstly, it is incredibly samey. Apart from some cool drum experimentation on Akama no Kuma, the rest of the album can get very boring.
Secondly, i can only listen to this if i am in the mood for it; it is one of the most extremely moody albums i have come across.
Good music, but not for everyone/all the time.
