Review Summary: Great EP, worth listening to.

This GdP's only EP shows the potential possessed by the band.

Imagine well written lyrics that propositaly defy the moral values of the contemporary society, intense rythm and a melody that go against the current paradigms of music together in a single EP, and then you got a picture of how this EP might be.

The lyrics are written in a foul, yet common language, the same everyone uses in its daily basis. Speaking about inconsequent and constant sex, just like every teenager would wish yet wouldn't do becase of the current social protocols. No hypocrisy, that would be a perfect slogan for the band.

The rythm is intense, energetic, yet repetitive. Just like most Rio Funk bands, GdP uses a similar rythm in their every song, wich is one of their few defects.

Another flaw of theirs is the little melody restrained in their album, wich is common in most Rio Funk bands, but depending on your perspective, it might not be actually a flaw. This little melody that the genre posesses is something that keeps it unique and different from all the other music genres, yet manages to be energetic and pleasant to listen. Achieving harmony with little to no melody is something no other genre in the world has ever achieved.

Great to listen in parties or other social occasions.

First of all, this was a terrible review, second of all, brazillian funk may just be one of the most stupid, uncreative, obnoxious and underproduced genres that have ever existed.

If you really want to listen to this performer, the only song worth listening to is "Beijinho no Ombro".

Also, I NEVER thought there would be a Rio Funk review on Sputnik. Can we get MC Federado and Avassaladores next, please?

nice review. it looks like english is'nt your first language, but that's ok. it's not mine either.

the awesome thing about the review is that you understand the funk phenomenon, or at least understand better than hurricanslash. it's ridiculous to take funk as musical trash, just like Régis Tadeu does. if you think about brazilian music, there's almost no song as confronting and clever as "My Pussy é o Poder". the brazilian rock is politically dumb, and this is far from dumb.

I'm sorry that I want something more in my music other than underproduced rap with insultingly sexist lyrics. My Pussy e o Poder is one of my least favourite songs of all time, and trust me, there is nothing really confronting about it.

And don't come around with the "But it's feminist" excuse. Because it's not. You would really have to squint your eyes to see something remotely feminist in this.

Also, have you, like, ever, listened to O Teatro Magico? You take a listen to "Amanha...Serra?" and dare tell me that song is dumb.

Angry rant is over. Angry user is angry.

Average review. Good music, this Hurricanslash guy really doesn't know his shit. He doesn't know how important Rio Funk is for the brazilian society.

I recommend this EP for everyone with a functioning brain, capable of understantding the real meaning of seemingly dumb lyrics.

I feel trolled so hard, you don't even understand.

Look, Joseph, Almost, I understand you. Especially early funk is really important for the brazilian society, with it depicting the poverty and crime in favelas and such. I get it. I do. Stop saying I don't.

But. There is no denying that Rio Funk is one of the most limited genres of all time. Almost every song sounds exactly the same, which isn't bad per se, but still, a bit more experimenting would be nice for it to stay sounding fresh and not so incredibly, mind-meltingly stagnant.

Also, yeah, sure, you can make the argument that the sexual lyrics in funk can be seen as a form of sexual freedom and everything, but you can make lyrics about sexual freedom that are a bit less, well, misogynist.

Also, I think it's discussable at how glorifyingly crime is portrayed in most of funk. Next to most funk-musicians, NWA seem like nice guys to hang around with.

I know that most of my effort to write this comment is stupid and noone will probably respond to this, but I wanted to make my points more clear, and to make it clear what my relationship with funk is.
