In recent times there has been a lot of talking about post-rock slow yet unstoppable extinction. For a long period of time the genre has been in deep stagnation. After spectacular albums from GY!BE or decent works from, say Explosions in the sky, Mono and Mogwai we were given almost no single piece of music worth remembering. Post - rock bands chose strange and definitely wrong path, simplifying their music to unbearable levels and making it as shallow as puddles. This resulted in creating tracks reminding rather phone bells than actual songs. Qualia seemed to follow similar way but at one moment it slightly changed direction, what helped it steer away from tight cage most bands got trapped in . On the album Everything is going to be fine we won't hear any groundbreaking stuff - marvelous sound or technical perfection are not main features of the disc. However if you give it a chance to fully resound in your brain, you might be surprised how much those simplistic tunes are feeling-packed.
There is no point in describing each song one by one. They all are quite similar and based on typical post rock scheme -calm beginning is gathering energy with every second to finally explode into mighty wave of sound. Whole album is suffused with good vibrations - not a single moment of sadness or melancholy. Dan Leader creates beautiful, peaceful universe which encaptures listener with its deepness and honesty. At least as long as its repetitiveness get tiring and technical imperfections start being more exposed to ear. Everything is going to be fine should be one-time adventure. It has a nice, deeply relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable sound but gets boring too quickly. It lacks some new concepts, ideas which would freshen up worn out formula. The album is just... fine. Nothing beyond that. Nevertheless, it' worth checking for post-rock and ambient fans or people seeking simple, not very ambitious yet highly emotional music.
