Review Summary: The best E.P of December the 18th 2006.... honest!
From the opening notes of this E.P you know you are about to hear something special. A use of some funky chords during the first track love make for a pleasant hearing. With carefully situated starts and stops this song is one of the many highlights of the E.P. The tone is set for the remaining songs. James Morgan's creedesque vocals add a natural demeanour to the song. The almost Frusciante like guitar is complimented by Rudge’s slick bass lines. The song almost sounds like a tale being told of past distress caused and most listeners can feel that the song could be referring to them. Flaunted Areas bring the song sometimes up to the plate next and a song called Sometimes, this song has the catchiest riff yet sounds the most simple. This is the song where Anton Pankhania can show of his prowess on the drums, with a magnificent drum solo. This is the first time we get to hear Henry Bird’s vocals in unison with Morgan’s and it is a match made in heaven. The following track is untitled and is possibly the weakest song on the E.P. Bird contributes lead vocals for this song and despite this the song still has something missing. Even though this is the case it is still an enjoyable listen.
Track 4 is Ignorance is Bliss and is a very Alkaline Trioesque song and it feels like it has been woven together like a quilt. It is hard to pick faults with a song which has everything, perfect vocals, perfect guitar, and perfect rhythm. This is possibly the strongest track on the E.P. Fiona follows and it is good. The last track is burn. This song sounds like it is written about anguish and has very young person emotional lyrics. Bird contributes to lead vocals again but this time it pays off as the song fits together to produce a mass of rocking your socks off. Overall this E.P is an enjoyable listen and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
