Barely known Michigan based indie-rockers Mike Mains & The Branches follow up their excellent debut LP with terrific 2nd LP 'Calm Down, Everything Is Fine'. Funded through PledgeMusic, this engaging & accessible release is well produced by Relient K guitarist Matt Hoopes. Employing a wide array of instrumentation, the band have also enlisted the services of ex-Paramore drummer Zac Farro to good effect. Dynamic & versatile, the distinct & borderline unique vocals of Mike Mains are arresting, as he goes from restrained to intense in a heartbeat. With many a lyrical nugget, this is a tight & consistent 38 minutes worth. Recommended Tracks: Noises, In The Night, Take It All & Burn.
