After the three 2001-2004 albums, that may have not been the pinnacle of songwriting, but couldn't be named poor either, and the two genuine efforts that followed it seemed that the greatness is back and Hammill would never put out a bad record again. Unfortunately, that is not the case: Consequences' lyrics are as strong as any of his previous albums', but the composition is amateurish, the musical ideas mostly second-hand, and even the trademark vocals sound unnatural, out of place.
