Review Summary: RIP
G.L.O.N.L. is hands down a top 3 GBE mixtape along with
Back from the Dead and
Life of a Savage 3. Capo was the best natural rapper of the group, neck and neck with SD. Something about the early 2010s Chicago drill scene was just special. Its just a shame that all of these guys really lived what they rapped because some of the most talented have been dead for 5-10 years at this point, Capo included. This tape is so pure and authentic you can feel it seeping through the speakers. Production is lofi and muddy, exactly how drill production should be. Capo's flow is pretty monotonous but thats not always a bad thing. You can hear the realness in him with every bar that he spits. He was on his way up along with Keef and he got gunned down before he could really take off. As is the case with many going back to Lil Jojo. Tales of murder, guns, thots and all things Southside Chicago street life are present here. There has been plenty of violence over hip hop's history but this set of individuals threw it in everyone's face. Dissing dead people consistently and overall disrespecting each other mercilessly, its no surprise what the outcome was. It was fun while it lasted though. Chicago drill is still going strong but the early/mid 2010s period will forever reign over any type of drill of past or present and this tape is at the top.
