Review Summary: Josh needs some Sleep.

After listening to "The World Famous Sex Buffet", I immediately realized that the Chicharones aren't going away anytime soon unless Josh is willing to give up on music. Josh lacked any presence on "TWFSB", the beats sounded quite average, even for the signature ones that Camobear Records is known for, and it was overall a mild disappointment. I expected "Blotto" to be much of the same.

I think I got a little more than I expected. First thing I should probably mention is that with any Josh Martinez-affiliated album, there's usually a pretty humorous intro to the album. I was extremely annoyed when "The World Famous Sex Buffet" did not have such an intro, and while this intro serves more as a prelude to "Ashes", the girlfriend's voice on the phone is at least a little funny, so I'll give it a pass.

The album plays like a plane slowly losing altitude to a crash-and-burn. The first three tracks (not counting the intro) are great (although the guests aren't exactly necessary,) but then each tracks feels more and more like filler as you get through the album (with a slight exception to the closer "Denouement"). Josh's one-speed flow gets old fast, the beats are void of much change (at least throw a sample in there or something!), and really, Josh needs Sleep. Without Sleep, Josh is just an average rapper on average-ish beats.

Overall, Josh really should've bundled tracks 2-4 as an EP and done away with the rest of this. The production is average, Josh's flow is average and gets stale by the middle of the album, and it's just hard to listen to the album fully without getting bored. Each verse makes you yearn more and more for Sleep to barrel in to spit some hyper-speed rhyme.

Words of advice, Josh: stick with Sleep.
