Gehenna's 7th album isn't half bad, but then again it's not terribly remarkable either. Sanrabb's vocals are more than adequate for what black metal stands for, but as the songs come and go, they go through the motions, motions that are finalized during the first few tracks. Regarding the actual music, the interplay of the hazy, doom-laden parts (included in the previous album WW too) with the traditional black metal blast beating sounds promising at first. On the long run though, the arrangements are not leading anywhere in particular, because of the repetition of the same musical themes and the same stale song writing approach. Repetitiveness is not a bad thing, especially in black metal, but its constituents in Unravel tend to work against it.
