Review Summary: Dance tunes courtesy of the 90s with big choruses, what’s not to like really Dance tunes curtsy of the 90s with big choruses, what’s not to like really

Firstly let me state for the record I don’t profess to be an expert or even massive fan of electronic music, metal is the generally chosen subject for this reviewer. However something’s are inescapable such as the rise of Chase and Status, the duo Saul Milton & Will Kennard return with the follow up to their 2011 release No More Idols.

Brand New Machine the album’s title is somewhat misleading as they haven’t changed their formula that much, 90’s dance music that gives you a flavour of everything from trip-hop, UK garage and even some rock. Yet again it’s a formula that serves them well, however maybe their greatest strength lies in their ability to find the correct vocalists and extract the optimum from each performer.

On a side note the less said about the albums cover the better! Chase and Status are a band with fingers in many pies these days, their crossover appeal is massive from pop’s mainstream, the club scene and even as far reaching as a well-received Download set. So should have no problems equaling the commercial successes of its predecessor, richly deserved success at that.

In summary then this album won’t change the world or even the way you see Chase and Status, but then again it was never supposed to. A thoroughly enjoyable listen that is well structured and doesn’t lose momentum yet doesn’t lack for ideas and different flavours either, enjoy music lovers
