Nothing against left-field covers or tributes to other artists,. Matter of fact, I welcome it. I also welcome Xiu Xiu's sometimes unnerving styles. Although I often have a problem with Xiu Xiu's quantity-over-quality approach to work that mostly just sees the band subside to the basic-most bare bones definition of "avant-garde" or "experimental". It's not particularly difficult to unravel, it's not challenging, it's nowhere near justified why the tributed artist in question is presented in this way. A lowest common denominator "weird music" labelled lazy work.
