Why? is considered by some as the pinnacle work of the progressive rock in Spain. It was presented in summer 1970 in Barcelona with the presence of Salvador DalĂ*, who said he was impressed with the music and the album cover. The croissant with a pocket watch embedded featured in the album art is regarded as a call to Spanish society to move against Franco's dictatorship. The proto-prog sound of the album is influenced by Iron Butterfly, Rare Earth, Jimi Hendrix..., among others.
The album begins with the blues-based “I believe”. The title track Why? accounts for nearly 25 minutes which in those times in Spain was unheard of. It features Hammond solos with Fuzz guitars and Wah-Wah, and was splitted in two parts. The first part is the main song theme, and the second one is mainly an instrumental jam with a reprise of the song theme in the end. The sound turns to pop rock in the following track, "Let me be born", heavily influenced by The Beatles, which was the last song on the LP.
In the CD edition there are 2 bonus tracks, “Earth's daughter” and “Look away our happiness”, originally released as a single in 1969.
