Review Summary: Short sweet chopped full of great riffs and in you're face breakdowns. Massive improvement as well.
These dudes hail from the town of Mcmethville Tn or in other words Mcminnville Tn. They our extremely unknown sadly and are some of the best dudes you'll find out there. There first ep i have say was really painfully hard to listen to tho. horrible production killed any chance it had to be successful and the band really didnt have any shinning moments. Now on to this the band has grown alot and this ep is extremely enjoyable. On to the review
Lineup -
Cory Cantrell - Lead Vocals and keys
Justin King - Guitars and Backing Vocals
Adam Lara - Bass
Dillon Northcutt - Drums
The ep opens up with the track Requiem and its a damn good opener for the ep. This track is heavy and pissed off and i finally get to see Cory Cantrell breakout as a vocalist. On there first ep he was extremely monotone and had no range whatsoever. Now he has a fairly nasty low tone witch i greatly enjoy and his vocals our extremely decypherable witch makes the listen experience alot nicer. The last breakdown in the song is extremely nice and makes me want more. Just basically i wish it was longer.
The second track Believe In Me opens up hard and about 15 seconds in a cool lead guitar section opens up and im totally surprised yet extremely happy. The first riff verse section is great fast double bass play from Dillon Northcutt and a good riff from Justin King make this part nice. Then the breakdown hits and we get to hear Justin's low backing vocals witch are a cool addition. The next part of the song is sweet with almost a two step kind of vib. Then the last part hits hard with the lead from the begginning pooping up again and then a sick Breakdown to finish it off.
The 3rd track is Structure and Cory Cantrell uses more of a mid tone to high tone in this song witch i enjoy cause he switches things up. Dillon's drums are strong as well keep a good medium double bass pace. But bassist Adam lara shows what he can do quiet well in this song with good bass lines. About a minute into the song im treated to honestly the sickest most choatic breakdown ive ever heard. It came out of nowwhere and bam i didnt know what to think. I just kept replaying and replaying and was like did i just hear that?!?!
Then theres a actual verse where honestly i saw clean vocals coming but nope Justin Kings lows come in and its kinda cool. But the only part of this song i didn't enjoy was the 2nd breakdown. Justin actually handles the vocals on this part his lows are nice but his highs sound awful. I think if Justin did the lows and cory did the highs in this part it would have turned out alot better. Then another verse and chorus and the song is over.
The last song is the Outro witch calms the mood down and is a good ending for the ep
overall i wish they would stay in the heavier style like the first track requiem. it honestly suits them better in my opinion and i can't wait for the next material.
