While many genders have their place in the rock scene (hard&heavy,nu, industrial, whatever) there are times you just want to hear rock music. Those times i choose to listen bands like Candlebox, Ugly kid joe or likes. These bands, in my opinion, have been seriously underrated. Besides being underrated as a band, this album,Happy Pills, has been their least successful record, for which they disbanded some time after their release. (hopefully re-united)

On this release the band is less Post-grunge but more Hard Rock. On the songs 'A Stone's Throw Away' and 'It's Alright', the ups and downs on the songs are so epic that you expect the songs to roll on to the 3rd minute fast and enjoy the punchline.
The band is, to me, far melodic than before, putting their efforts in every song. On the songs 'Happy Pills and Look What You Have Done' the band uses some real catchy riffs, that Candlebox listeners are not used to before.
The tempo of the album is faster paced than their previous records. Even though the opening title may make you a little bit doubtful of this opinion, the heavy riffs and screams on the following songs will make you think otherwise.
On some occasions, while the tune is low , kevin martin sings alone and that's the time one can easily realize he is a rare singer, for he has his voice like an instrument, not just saying the words but injecting some spirit into them.
The album never gets boring, the closing song of the album (Look what you have done), as i mentioned before, has a killer riff that not every record would have as the 12th song.

The band should be appreciated. For instead of repeating their successful 1st record or trying to go insanely harder after their 2nd record, they worked and created a very unique album , a very Rock album.
