Review Summary: I poured a drink for you, but you were smoking with your friends outside and I see big things for you. I made plans for you and I.
Will it break any ground? Is it completely innovative? A mind-blowing experience? Is it even original? The answer to all the aforementioned questions is no, not really. But what Alice Wolf is more than makes up for it. Fronted by the angelic Ellie Roswell,
Wolf Alice is simple in its composition and execution. Only 3 tracks long, this little EP has quite the endearing groove. Opener "White Leather" is moody and gorgeous, low-key and charming. And man, that guitar. So lovely and heartfelt. There's less going on here than most songs, but everything has its place. And I dare you to try not to hit that replay button. There's no wasted seconds on
Wolf Alice. Even when things get a bit louder and unhinged like on closing statement "Leaving You", Wolf Alice play things close to the heart. Though they may not veer off the road into uncharted indie territory,
Wolf Alice take a firm hold of the path they're on, which seems to be headed towards a powerful debut LP. I'll be waiting with open arms.
