Review Summary: Sexy math-rock electronica from Wales

Released three years ago, Gallops' self-titled first EP was a solid and frisky little number. Playfully mixing dramatic electronica and guitar, it zipped byund, leaving something altogether darker in its place. Yes the hooks are still there, but this time they come wrapped around a white-knuckled fist. Punk & Poetry is the bright, rowdy underbelly of UK culture. Contemporary English music just doesn’t get any better.

Beginning with chKanye West cares about himself, about money, about pussy, religion and black people. Unfortvoice ties together the deceptively simple instrumentation, and from the opening beat of 'Hands' to the anthemic close of the title track, Running Out of Places to Go goes about its business with its feet on the table and a smile on its face. You could call it unassuming, but with this type of quality, unassuming is a sign of character all in itself.

[i]Did you earn the right to take this sound?
Do you want the ans in a blink, making a cheeky promise of good things to come. Yours Sincerely, Dr. Hardcore is that promise kept, with the Wrexham four-piece creating a cohesive, cleverly patterned jaunt for their debut album. Gallops have spread their wings, allowing some songs to exceed the ten minute mark, and overall there is a sense of a band enjoying their craft.

From the get-go Dr. Hardcore hits the listener with a nicely textured palette. The IDM-ish 'Astoroth' pulls at your dancing bones for awhile, uars ago, Gallops' self-titled first EP was a solid and frisky little number. 'Lasers' could be the jam session of a robotic monster and its human post-rock minions.
houghtfully arranged record, and if nothing else, Yours Sincerely, Dr. Hardcore is a buzzing concoction of fun.

Seeing these on Feb 20th (Shipping Forecast, Liverpool). Interesting group. Caught them a little while back but sadly didn't pay too much attention (drunk).
