It is difficult to really pin down all the excess and ridiculousness of Zappa's 'Studio Tan'. One cannot approach with ease an analysis or review or any opinion piece on an album that defies meaningful content. It is half bloated unfunny joke that overstays its welcome and half a mishmash of genuinely curious musical ideas, all kind of colliding with one another.

This doesn't really all hang together as a "coherent whole" or anything like that (which, of
course, if you know anything about the history of this album and the whole Lather project, it
wasn't exactly meant to, at least not like this), and The Adventures Of Greggery Peccary doesn't
quite hold up to repeated listens, but the two instrumental tracks are genuinely amazing, and
Lemme Take You To The Beach is one of the catchiest little ditties Frank ever wrote.
UPDATE 13/04/2018: Hey, whaddayaknow, Greggery Peccary has come back around to being great again.
