| 4.5 superb | VTHokies | October 26th 12 | I can't get enough of this album. I am a computer programmer and as such I pretty much listen to music 8-10 hours a day. I judge an album by how well I can jam and cause me to think creatively. I don't listen to songs, I listen to albums. If any song in the album doesn't jive with the rest it throws me off my groove and I toss off the album. So, the album needs to be almost a story. There are few albums from this year that can make the cut IMO. Some that come to mind are DIIV's newest LP and Airiel's latest EP as well as Wild Nothing's newest LP. This is just one of those albums that you can jam to forever. It is what I have come to expect to Pinback. No, they didn't push any envelopes on this album but I wouldn't want them to. I wanted more Pinback and that is exactly what I got.

| 3.0 good | Rudy K. EMERITUS | October 17th 12 | No one will ever accuse a Pinback record of sounding terrible; Rob Crow and Armistead Burwell Smith are
masters of lighting a slow burning fuse of groovy electric guitars and hypnotic rhythms that set in ever so
slightly. And it's predictably gorgeous. Where Information Retrieved fails is that it's content to be pretty and
nothing more. For a band that has always been adept at shading in the blank spaces during their career,
Information Retrieved is a shockingly humdrum drive, with many wonderful parts but nothing that really grabs
you. Pinback are still beautiful, but they're getting to the point where that's all they are.

| 3.5 great | WillieD | February 28th 17 | This is Pinback's worst album, but it's still good. I just find it too polished and it seems to be influenced in some songs by modern indie in ways that I don't care for, mainly in the vocals. The songwriting also lacks the complexity of earlier albums. As far as songs go, Drawstring is the biggest highlight for me. It sounds like it could be on a previous album more so than most of the other songs on this album. The production of the album is good other than being too polished as I said before.
