| 4.0 excellent | maninthebox | September 19th 24 | An underrated album and band in the epic doom genre. The vocal performance and production, while not perfect, contribute to an atmospheric and somber sound to the album that lends itself to the WWII concept behind it. Add in some sick doom metal guitar riffage, lead work, and song writing choices and you have an 8.2/10 record! Best songs: My Pinnacle of Power, Stainless Steel, and Sinews of Anguish

| 3.0 good | Voivod STAFF | August 29th 12 | In Sinews of Anguish, Altar of Oblivion present a pretty standard version of epic doom metal, with the vocals being the only element that stands out. The latter either they croon (imagine something between Messiah Marcolin and Scott Walker) or they resemble the voice of Ozzy Osbourne.
