Hey Everyone,
This is my first review so don’t kill me on it. It’s about an indie Canadian rock band called The Salads. They hail from Ontario and have been making some pretty good rock music.

1. Growing Up
This is one of the best tracks on the album. It starts out with a fast intro that sets the pace for the album. Great guitar and drum work on this track give it a real catchy rhythm. The lyrics make you want to sing the song out loud yourself.
5 Out of 5

2. Individual
This is one of the more mediocre songs on the album. It starts out slowly with a lyrical solo but then heads out into a rap-rock verse. Once back from that the chorus is actually pretty descent. If not for the rap-rock this song would easily be a high spot on the album, but instead it is a low point.
3.5 Out of 5

3. It’s Alright
It’s alright starts out fast with an awesome drum solo. The guys worked hard on this one and the guitar, bass, drum and vocal work all work well on it. The lyrics are a little bland though. Besides that this is another steady rocker on this album.
4 Out of 5

4. A Better Way
A Better Way starts out great and never stops going. Its guitar riffs echo through the whole song and the vocals are not rap-rock but very up paced. The vocals in this song are very politically motivated which adds meaning
4.5 Out of 5

5. Seasons
Seasons starts out with amazing guitar riffs which continue to echo through the song. The guitar and bass blend well in this song for a great effect. The vocals are very soft but lead into a louder midsection of the song which really sets it apart. This midsection is also accompanied by a good guitar solo the keeps the earlier themes in the song.
4.5 Out of 5

6. Got No Love
Got No Love starts out with echoes of Got No Love but then continues into synthesized vocals and then into the upbeat section of the song. This song uses additional vocals form another one of the band members to make an amazing two tiered vocal effect.
5 Out of 5

7. Powerless
The third standout on this album is a song called Powerless. This song has amazing guitar riffs coupled with echoing vocals that could make the band very successful. The prominent and catchy chorus brings you into the song and makes you sing along. The lyrics are very meaningful and make you think. The upbeat tempo carries throughout the whole song make it very motivating.
5 Out of 5

8. Circles
Circles is a slower song that puts a lot of emphasis on the vocals, at the beginning. Once you get into the song the catchy lyrics and good riffs that are staples of this album appear again. Although catchy the lyrics are very repetitive and have minimal meaning. The vocals sound rough at the slower points where the vocalist obviously does not feel comfortable.
4 Out of 5

9. The First Time
The First Time starts out with a very catchy bass line which is then accompanied by a guitar echo. After that the drums join along making for an amazing line. The vocals match the rhythm and speed of the guitar, bass and drums extremely well. The chorus makes this song even better. The last half of the song contains spoken words and guitar riffs that take away from what is actually the song. The bass line from the beginning of the song continues throughout and makes it amazing.
4.5 Out of 5

10. Thick & Thin
Thick and Thin is the only filler track on this album and provides a horrible ending to the album. The vocals clash with the drum line in the chorus and the great bass lines that I had heard in the previous songs are nowhere to be found.
2.5 Out of 5

Overall this is an amazing album from a band that has received little to no recognition is the Canadian music seen. Hopefully someone big will sign them and make them more heard.

They get air time on music channels here in Canada. Deserving that air time is another thing. Decent enough review for your first.

They do get some good airtime here, I see the video for Growing Up on muchmusic all the time. I think they're a decent band with a lot of technical talent.

Not a good band, and holy shit at this review.

No wonder it didn't get any attention 10 years ago.
