Review Summary: A real German kick in the ass
Germany had lots of great thrash metal acts in the 80's like Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom. And the even less popular but great Deathrow, Mekong Delta, and Holy Moses. But there was one thrash group from Germany in the late 80's that I really found interesting. They were called Violent Force and I saw that name and the long bombastic album title and decided to get the album but I didn't know what to expect. I started listening and I was surprised at how good it was.
The lineup was:
Stachel on guitar
Waldi on bass
Hille on drums except for track 1, 5, and 9
Atomic Steif did those tracks
And Lemmy (not the Motorhead Lemmy) on Vocals and Guitar
What I heard when I listened to the first track Dead City was an interesting bass line that led into a Motorhead sounding song with very stereotypical German vocals. The speed was mid tempo but it still felt aggressive. The rest of the album does not sound anything like Dead City surprisingly. The next song Soulbursting was truly a soul burster on first listen considering I expected a mid tempo thrasher, but no, my ass was kicked. It was so fast and aggressive kind of like Sadus except german.
The albums production is kind of dry and hollow and the bass is only audible when Waldi wants it to be like at the beginning of Dead City for example and a few other times. The guitars have an interesting tone to them that is quite reminiscent of early Destruction. The albums 5th track What About The Time After is a really interesting instrumental that reminds me of Show No Mercy era Slayer in a way. Most of the album is Fast German thrash metal with quite interesting production. The lyrical content is pretty much the same stuff that most thrash bands were singing about those days.
This is an excellent thrash metal album that I would recommend to any fan German thrash metal or Sadus and even Slayer. If you are a fan of any of those artists, then listening to this is highly recommended. The albums songs are very easy to remember and will keep you satisfied for a while even if you are only a moderate thrash fan. The amount of charisma and energy the band gives out will give you a great feeling and will make you bang your head guaranteed.
