Review Summary: Their thinking about heading back home...maybe
For an EP released with songs that didn’t make Omni, this is fantastic. I don’t know why they were not on Omni, but it was right to not put them on. To those who take time to listen to them, you can see why. Both Your Private Sky and South Side Life are enchanting and interesting songs. Your Private Sky is the worst of the two, but it doesn’t mean it’s bad. These two songs are very chilled and out of these songs and all of the songs on Omni, this is the most Minus the Bear has been to their roots. South Side Life retakes the relaxing ambient sound of Menos El Oso, and Your Private Sky mixes Omni’s synths with Planet of Ice’s dark-ish guitar playing. But some more interesting stuff is added. South Side Life has a chorus sung in Spanish by some woman. It really works with the clean guitar in the background. I might be wrong, but I believe that Minus the Bear is possibly heading back into familiar territory.
