I found "Break In City (Storm the Gate)" annoying with the movie. It's basically narrating what Jack's doing on the screen.

That's what I liked about "Break In City (Storm the Gate!)". Basically the fact that Jack Black was narrating his actions in such a crazy way cracked me up.This Message Edited On 11.26.06

This album deserves a 4.5 if only for Beelzeboss. I've been listening to it on repeat all day :/. It still hasnt gotten old, its quite possibly my favourite song at the moment. I also realised just how sexually explicit this song is ("You're gonna gargle mayonaisse", "I'm gonna fill him with my hot demon death, I'll make him swill like a scarlet pimpernel" :S).
Dammit when is this movie coming out in Australia?! I want to see it now!

Beelzeboss is probably my favorite. I like baby also. But it just isn't like their first album.

no, it is different then the first. i prefer its shorter length, some may not. also its a soundtrack, so that may have something to do with it. funny as hell and some pretty good tunes, too. put it all together and i think its pretty riotous.

i love how JB does that psuedo british accent when he says "unless we bust a massive monster mamma jam...."

Some of the cursing is just excessive and kind of makes the album less funny. I like a good cursing rant but Jack just takes the fun out of it. I think the cursing on the first album is more tactful when it comes to cursing. Let me say again....I have nothing against cursing at all......

The cursing works very well in "Kickapoo." Maybe it wears thin as time passes.
|

That is a perfect example of what I am talking about.

I think I have come to a conclusion. The writing and all around lyricism is much better in the first record. Then in the second album the musicianship and song writing is more mature than the first.
As for if it's funny or not, I think Jack Black is becoming a people pleaser.
Oh and one more thing, they really sucked on SNL.

i don't understand the issue some have with the cursing. i don't feel its gratuitous. seems to fit and flow nicely. plus i see nothing wrong with cursing, period. even less so on an album like this.

Good review. This is another great D album for sure, but I think I must have missed something but not having seen the movie. Plus, the CD is way short. Good stuff though with all said and done.

coherance is gay andy is the gayest member with jason comeing second then phil and then kevin last. Andy sucks at guitar and phil sucks him of while he plays guitar.

Come on, this album really isn't particularly amazing. It has it's funny moments for sure (love Classico and The Government Totally Sucks) but the music isn't as good and it makes no sense as an album, some of the tracks make no sense, I assume because they're just straight from the soundtrack. Not a proper album, seems like more of an extra to the film.
