It's a bit of a pity that metal in general shied away from the overt blues influences that made this album GOAT.

counterclockwise discog walk: Revisit on Rm 2009 Sanctuary Ed. bum5ing 🐐, to good to not bumping to the top.
perso.high.points: So goody good groovy opener, 'Sweet Leaf", perfect for this album. "After forever", slick bass. "Children Of The Grave", chills down the spine piece, even after decades of listening, incredibly good. "Into The Void", nice, fun, catchy closer. perso.low.points: Nothing to see here, not even "Solitude", because it is a simple ballad, good when in the mood.

I don't think there's a stronger end to any album ever than the outro to Into The Void. [2]

Master Of Reality is a great album for both Black Sabbath history and Metal history. It delivers a unique atmosphere, where you hear a single chord and already identify that Tommy Iommi's guitar is in control.
You need to hear: Sweet Leaf / After Forever / Children of the Grave / Solitude / Lord of This World

Why has stoner never sounded quite as good as this? Utter weed sludge of a record.

The chromatic bluesy riff at the end of Into the Void (da-da-da-daaa, daaa-da-da-da-daaa) is my favorite Sabbath riff of all time

"Why has stoner never sounded quite as good as this?"
i think the majority of bands who do this sound have a heavy "southern" influence that sabbath didn't. also think there's a certain darkness to sabbath that the 4 or 5 random dudes who liked to sm0k together and started a band just can't recreate.
also think the more antiquated production enhances sabbath immensely. can't really speak to the "doom" side of things but shit like the sword and corrosion of conformity sounds far too clean to me
and lastly i think tony and geezer are simply far more talented songwriters and players than everyone else i've heard do this sound... and while ozzy isn't even the most talented vocalist is sabbath's own history, i still think he's farrrr better than the vocalists who typically front these bands

It's that industrial 70's England sound of bleakness. As far as I can see the UK is reverting back to that state, so another BS may arise from that.
