Shut up.

Get out of my thread!
|

I think my friend is burning this one for me so i don't need to buy it..good review.
|
| |
So Zappa, what say you to the charges that you have an opinion?
|
| |
I think it's funny that someone would tell me I shouldn't be in this thread since I don't like Green Day. As if review threads MUST be all positive. What's the point, then? Why don't we all just run out and buy every album that's been reviewed?

I thought that was the point of the reviews. I honestly tried to get all of them, so I started in alphabetical order and went to Best Buy. I got to about the second Disturbed album before my credit card got taken away.

I really hope you're kidding.

I really hope you never thought for a moment that I wasn't.

^That was quite obviously a joke, silly cakes.

Love the CD. I bought it the day it came out. American Idiot, Holiday, and Wake me up when September Ends are IMO the best songs.

Judging by the single, there is no way in holy hell I would ever consider listening to any of this album.
Good review or whatever the fuck I put here.

I have three tracks up on my website for download: Jesus of Suburbia, St Jimmy, and Homecoming. Give it a shot if you haven't yet. http://www.theexitwound.com/?page=10
I really can't stress how much this album has to be played front to back. No skips. No shuffle. It's a rock opera. The characters learn and grow, conflict, and resolve their situations. There are very few breaks between songs even, which is why this disc has to be viewed as a whole story, not individual songs.
The disc is a must have for any fan of modern rock or even punk. It's political attacks are subtle in most tracks, taking a general stance viewed through a fictional character. But they're still there. Green Day's views on the media, the president, and the war are all in bold if you can find them. But the overall story of Jesus of Suburbia sets up the tale of an individual living in a time of worries, hype, and uncertainties. By the end, they've grown up and seen the way to peace.
This disc is definitely worth it for all green day fans. It's the best of their career, surpassing Dookie in every way. The songs are structured in simple Green Day manner, save for the 9minute epics. Nimrod.'s melodies and Warning's extremes are combined to form the best material they've ever produced. Hands down.
It's comedy & tragedy. 5/5. There is not a bad song on the album, and its impact on the pop/punk genre will be as phenomenal as Dookie was 10 years ago.

Good review, to both reviewers. I'm downloading the songs now. If I like them, I'll probably buy this. :thumb:

Jesus of Suburbia is a great song! I will get this when they get it at my local music shop.

That'll also get you the whole thing. And that statement was very well put, ExitWound.
Another quick note: If you (meaning everyone with the album) haven't already, whip out the lyric book and read along. Everything will come across a lot clearer, I guarantee.

There is no way I would like the single at any point in time, ever. I got the lyrics the first time I heard it, and that made it even worse of a song. I seriously doubt I would like the album at all, much less front to back. The "concept" sounds awful and I want nothing to do with Green Day attempting something intelligent.
|
| |
I'm listening to the stream now "I think I'm on 'Novocaine' now," and it's fairly standard Green Day with some flair thown in every once in a while. That's fine if you like Green Day though, and you can tell that they did sort of "mature" just like Blink did. Billie Joe's singing actually improved though.

yes, this is definately a front to back album. you can't listen to Lateralus by starting at anoter song either, just the same with this album.
start from the beginning and just listen the whole way through, this album really is something.

I start with "Parabol," then skip "Ticks And Leeches" to listen "Lateralus" and then stop the CD.
Color me weird.

I think American Idiot (the song) sets up the stage for the rest of the album. And it's written in typical Green Day style to give the listener an introduction to influece the rest of the disc...fast, furious, annoyed. Each and every song on the album is crucial to the story, and thats' why doing a track by track listing and rating is very difficult. Even releasing singles from the disc doesn't seem right. Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Holiday being the next two.
It truly stands apart from every other disc they've ever done, and many of the other pop albums of this century for the fact that they're not in your face about it. They hide their statements within the Green Day stories we've been listening to for a decade now.
