talking about the general consensus now
|
| |
wait this band released anything other than jane doe?
- general consensus, prob

Album Rating: 4.5
nah i mean you fail me, axe to fall, awlwlb and the saddest day off ptes are quite highly regarded too but this album is often considered as a misstep for the band, and as a result people don't seem to notice how many killer tracks this has
|
| |
ya i know
but it's always irked me how jane doe is so much more popular than everything else on music sites

"it's always irked me how jane doe is so much more popular than everything else on music sites"
well yah but you know, it really is their best
|
| |
not by such a large margin
|
| |
also, too much talk about emotions and breakups and dumb shit and not enough talk about how the music rules
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
but those emotions and breakups and dumb shit is what makes that album so precious for a lot of people (including me). the music obviously kicks so much ass too, the emotions wouldn't get through if the music wasn't so heavy and violent
|
| |
i'm just saying it's overstated, and the premise that you somehow *need* to connect with that record on an emotional level in order to enjoy it is laughable at best

It's not a misstep as such, just not as memorable as most of their albums.

"you somehow *need* to connect with that record on an emotional level in order to enjoy it"
lol who said that?
|
| |
i guess you'd be surprised then
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
that being said, i think you need to understand the emotional thunderstorm the album provides to fully realize why it's so immensely loved everywhere
|
| |
oh i do, it's just not a connection i could ever make
idk i just think it does the music a disservice to put such a ludicrous emphasis on that

Fuck it gonna respin today it's been a while, on a Converge kick.

Disagree hard. Music is as precise and incredible as the emotional nature of the lyrics.
|
| |
yeah but one is always talked about so much more than the other
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
I view that as more of a personal preference. People who listen to it all experience emotions. However, not all are musicians who may have a deeper appreciation for some of the musical nuances that work so well.
|
| |
i don't think you need to be a musician to appreciate the riffs and energy on jane doe but alright
