I'm starting to like this album more than You Fail Me.

I don't get why people don't like this as much as surrounding albums. It absolutely rips, especially the first half!

I feel bad about taking so long to listen to this album. The average rating kinda turned me away from giving it a spin. Furthermore, I enjoy this album much more than You Fail Me which is one of the favorite albums from the usual Converge fan.

Them opening their set with plagues should be considered a safety hazard

I survived but the event caused my mosh retirement. I’m hitting the knocked loose show like it’s one last job

Never understood the act of grown men running around with/into other grown men violently while at a show. Just listen to the music lmao.

Punk and metal pits are wayyy better. Just people bumping into one another. Hardcore shows are the only ones with the dumbass spinkicking and crowdkilling and shit.

hawks is a “stands by the bar with his arms crossed” guy confirmed

This is a great record but it’s nowhere near YFM. Trophy Scars, Lonewolves, and Grim Heart are about as good as anything else they’ve made.

Plus plagues. Plagues is incredible.

The first 4 tracks are among their heaviest and most cutthroat. I love Orphaned and Bare My Teeth for their post hardcore edges as well. T/t is just fucking gross. Grim Heart is such a longform epic. I honestly just think this has it all like most of their records do.

I can’t move past Jacob’s vocals here. His cleaner shouts are fine, but I do not fuck with the really harsh almost bark sounding ones. They’re pretty much the same on Axe to Fall but I think that album just has more quality tracks and more interesting songwriting.

I’m not crazy right? I think he sounds pretty much the same from Petitioning thru Jane Doe, then YFM I feel like he tried to be a little more intelligible. Then this one and Axe to Fall sound pretty much the same. Then AWLWLB almost went back to how he sounded on YFM but his screams are even easier to understand and that’s pretty much how he’s sounded since.

And agreed on Orphaned million, that song rules too.

Nah, his unintelligible vocals are based.
