cob and this album especially were a huge part of my adolescence. Gutted by the news, especially right after learning about doom. Hard rip and I hope this year won't be like 2016. We don't need to lose anymore kickass artists

damn... loved them in my teens and jammed the hell out of my Hatebreeder Pciture disc back in the days... remembering seeing them opening up for some other band in front of less than 50 people. Me in the front row got my hair stuck in his guitar bangin' it out to Lake Bodom... He apologized after the song, even thou it was clearly my fault...

Lake Bodom what a song
they were really good live. Tokyo Warhearts is still one of my fav live albums. the version of Silent Night Bodom Night is the de facto version of the song for me it's even better than the one on here

Bodom were one of my first forays into extreme metal when I was a young teenager along with many on sputnik, so with Alexi's death I've went back and given all of their records an in depth listen. It's been easily 7-8 years since I'd really done so.
If anything, I was pleasantly surprised how well their first three albums especially have held up. This is ultimately just really fun, goofy metal, and I find especially with this album and Follow the Reaper that the band was really firing on all cylinders as far as songwriting and pacing went. Their energy is unparalleled.
RIP Alexi.

I actually went back and listened to AYDY for the first time in forever and it's a lot better than I remembered. Its better than the rating here suggests

For sure. I actually like it a bit more than Hate Crew Deathroll. The problem with HCD is that, while it's still solid, it's stuck somewhere between the band's early neoclassical stuff and their later thrashy stuff. So it doesn't fully commit to either and I feel the songwriting suffers a bit as a result. But AYDY is a lot more committed to the thrash elements

I was actually surprised at how much AYDY still retained that FtR sound more than I remembered. Really heavy keyboard presence but the riffs just kick ass throughout the entire album. Definitely see why that was when they really got serious mainstream success

AYDY is a bit frustrating to me because there are individual moments of it that absolutely slap but most of the tracks have at least one segment that comes off as awkward and forced.
