but yeah that’s def one of the best songs here. “chases” and “to hell with good intentions” were the only two I knew for the longest time

"But I’ll admit that though I in theory like the total...uh, well, derangement? In the chorus it’s also a bit muddy sounding to me in terms of the chords and stuff WHICH in no way to my mind diminishes albini’s effort....the bini!"
While the album was engineered by Albini, which is awesome, it was of course mastered (by someone else) louder than ideal (though actually not as loud as most albums these days) and that song has the loudest mastering on the album.

tbh, the (lilt? not what the right word is) on the word 'touring' during 'to hell with good intentions' might be one of my favourite moments

Funniest record in noise rock. Gareth Brown Says is just one liner city

World Loves Us & Alan, too
Difference Between Me and You might be the more thought out record, but this is basically nothing but bangers

love me some mclusky. think I prefer The Difference Between Me and You by just a bit, but the first three songs here are hard to beat

They're just so raw and nasty, both in terms of sound and content lol

I actually prefer FOTL overall but mclusky have some hard-hitting, almost anthemic-like ‘bangers‘. I really dig this one, even if I honestly just jam mcluskyism more often than not.

I love how muddy the chorus to "no new wave no fun" is. just thrashin

These days I’m not sure if I prefer this band or FOTL, but I think it’s FOTL by a bit. Both amazing bands.

Travels is peak Falkous. They have petered out a bit of late, as it all comes across as overly cynical and there’s less urgency. However, the first three FotL albums are mostly all thoroughly entertaining, both musically and lyrically.

I agree with you there. Travels has been my favorite for years. But it has grown off of me a tiny bit while The Difference Between Me and You tends to grow on me with every listen. But I think the stretch of albums from The Difference Between to Curses to Travels was Falco’s best songwriting.

"I actually prefer FOTL overall" [2]
Both bands rule though and they each scratch a different kind of itch I guess. Definitely agree on Travels being peak Falkous, and I'd say Arming Eritrea is the best song he's ever written
I've also gotta give a shout to How To Stop Your Brain. Honestly love that one about as much as Mclusky's last two albums
