I'd probably keep Get Your Filthy Hands... as it seems to fit quite nicely where it is, although it is one of the only songs that could be considered filler. Southampton Dock has the worst line on the whole album in terms of Roger's vocals; "knuckles white on the slippery reins" but other than that I think it's decent.

Neither are bad but Filthy Hands is kinda meh lyrically compared to the rest and just sounds too happy

Southampton starts pretty meh (the first minute has like no melody whatsoever) but from when the piano comes in on "Still the dark stains spread beneath their shoulder blades" it rules so I'd probably keep it I dunno

ok they aren't all not good, not now john and two suns are decent... but musically (not lyrically) it sounds very much like the wall...

"but musically (not lyrically) it sounds very much like the wall... "

probably because this started as a b-sides collection of songs from the Wall sessions

"and the wall had many great songs... but as an album it was stretched out mess..."

agreed

"Don't cha'll at least think it should have been a solo project for roger?? hes all like... hey ummm soo dave... how bout you just chill and i've got this album ... mmmm k??"

actually both Roger and Dave have admitted that Roger was open to Dave contributing to this album but Dave was too lazy to put in any ideas, so it's hardly Roger's fault

Despite the fact that Gilmour doesn't contribute that much, this album still has some of his best solos.

"not now john and two suns are decent..."

Two Suns is more than decent, it's incredible and better than most songs on The Wall imo. Same goes for Fletcher Memorial, The Gunner's Dream and the title track.

I'll have to jam this again, I'm definitely missing something as I thought this was pretty dull for Floyd.

Wall is a classic. These off cuts literally didn't and don't cut it

These "off cuts" are better than a large chunk of the songs on The Wall.

I'm going to have to disagree JT. The Wall is bigger than the tunes it holds. As a product it breaks boundaries. Christ that sounds unbelievably wanky.

The Wall has never clicked with me as a whole. I find this to be a much more emotionally engaging and cohesive album with very little in the way of filler.

Opinions vary. I think The Wall is a massive accomplishment. This seems like a very offhanded deluge in one of the closets of Waters' mind... making it feel much more limited in scope.

This is definitely much more personal than The Wall and as a result is indeed more limited in scope in the sense that it sticks to Water's own personal thoughts and feelings instead of dressing them up in a fictional story. Personally I think all of that works in this album's advantage and is partly why I find this so much more rewarding than The Wall. But yeah opinions...

the concept in the Wall is just convoluted and pretty shitty for Waters' standards, this dispenses with all the superfluous bullshit
