Just one question: this entry is for the compilation, right ?

Because someone added the 2 original separate releases. I've checked, this 3 acts box was only released until 1987.

Looks like it. I gotta say, it seems very unnecessary to have this as a compilation, and the two releases up separately. It really is all one album.

to answer the question here

Joe's Garage was originally released in two halves, and later released as a complete album, which it is in every single iteration outside the original 1979/80 vinyl release. There should only be one entry, which is this. Joe's Garage is meant to be listened as a whole.

I applied edits, so this is back in the LPs section with the correct release date and no "Parts I, II, and III" bit in the title. The separate entries will be deleted later.

This also applies to Shiek Yerbouti, a live album (with studio elements). It is still a live album, much like how this should remain in the LPs section.

with all the studio overdubs and edits, I always considered Sheik Yerbouti an LP not live album. Especially now with the Hammersmith Odeon live album which was the proper live album of that original material.

I mean, you could say it's a studio album, the fact is that it was all recorded live with studio overdubs. Starless and Bible Black was done the exact same way.

and of course, I notice the flaw in that argument

(really though, it's never referred as a studio album so idk why some people are so insistent on saying it's one)

I mean, by that metric should we be including Live And Dangerous and Alive! as studio albums?

Starless and Bible Black is a studio LP though, despite being taken from live recordings? I understand what you mean about Sheik, but in my head I'll continue to stubbornly consider it a studio album.

Watermelon in Easter Hay is so so so so beautiful. The guitar playing on that song, so sorrowful sounding. Was NOT expecting that kind of song on the album when I first listened to this album all the way through. It was a real mood shift.

Awesome title track as well, the melody in it is just so warm and wondrous sounding.

Zappa likes to keep his albums diverse and does so better than most artists

It's one of a hundred reasons why he's the best

Zappa was a genius. That solo in Watermelon is so so epic and emotional. Concept here is silly ofc, but that's Zappa. Love it or hate it.
