I’m incredibly picky when it comes to metal ballads. I typically hate them, and those tracks are certainly no exception lol

Can't say I agree with that, probably my favorite Crue album because it has the least filler

JP's "Beyond The Realms of Death" is the quintessential heavy metal ballad.
No objections.

I'll counter with pretty much any Ozzy era Sabbath ballad

That one ballad on Vol 4, I think it’s called Changes, makes me want to die lol
Don’t think I’ve ever heard any other ozzy era Black Sabbath ballads. I’ve only heard their first four albums

I love "Changes". Ozzy carries that song until the bitter end, and it was good enough to get sampled in an Em track.

"Close My Eyes Forever" is another good ballad, but I'm biased because I heard that hundreds of times in my youth.

also I gotta chime in - Vince has to be the worst singer of the 80s. Dude oozed sex and charisma though, so it barely mattered.

Vince always had that nasal tone but the dude could hit the notez, even the gay ones, early on. That tone also set them apart from everyone else in the genre so I guess it worked.

Yep they had such an unique sound at the time.
