Mustaine's vox suck but at least he doesn't sound like a constipated castrate

I think Geddy's vocals were at their very best for Roll The Bones - Counterparts - Test For Echo. So much better than the vocals from the progressive era.

His tone on Roll The Bones was perfect.....His true voice in a relaxed style of singing......Bravado in particular.....perfection

Can totally see why people wouldn't like Geddy's vocals but nobody can criticise his bass playing - one of the GOATs for sure.

Agreed about Geddy vocals, they're the biggest obstacle to me getting into this band

Definitely an acquired taste the vox, but instrumentally and compositionally speaking this band is just fucking insane

Yeah band's rocking. I don't have a problem with Budgie though which is weird.

I love Geddy's voice but I've heard people say exactly that, that it's been a stumbling block for them in getting into these guys

I think his voice is so high in the mix hurts it tbh, 2112 has voice lower and more blended and sounds better

Early albums he's rougher but l always found it weird how Geddy is such an obstacle for many considering how smoothly he sings for like 85% of the discog.

Like say the dude from Billy Talent is much more nasal and goofy and I don't see as much dislike

I think it's the type of nasally whine that geddy has, it sounds really shrill and it sounds at odds with the music

Yeah I can see that, but I was generalizing because it doesn't strike me as a particularly off-putting case. Then again I tend to jam more 80s Rush where he definitely matured and sits much comfier between the synths (Power Windows especially)

Geddy's is my favorite vocalist of all time. He's also my favorite bass player. Probably my favorite keyboardist too.

Dude's a monster.

I wouldn't say favorite keyboardist (especially since that same era spawned keyboardists/pianists like Tony Banks and Freddie Mercury) but definitely my favorite bass player

The fact that he's in the running for fav keyboardist when he's also a singer and bassist is a testament to how talented he is.

Also imo Geddy's voice was at his best during the Moving Pictures to Power Windows era.
