I like wlwh and tvu a ton, maybe 4.5s even, but this is on another level. Amazing band. Loaded has great songs and is pretty good too.

I'd say that Warhol's regal status in the art world was always contentious and debated: I was even assigned a critique of art historian Arthur Danto's breathless praise of Warhol's brillo boxes (which praise laid on the theoretical basis that Warhol's works were uniquely "indistinguishable" from their realworld referents [e.g., actual Brillo boxes]) in my core-curriculum Art Humanities course in college.

but you're right that any of that debate (which would be visible to an historian of contemporary art) is overshadowed by his overwhelming presence in modern art museums and all the writings about him for sure

so uh

yes!

nah I mean he's such a puffed-up art figure that saying he sucks or is overrated is definitely legitimate. for some reason I just felt like mentioning that one article that I can no longer find...it was a thorough thrashing of danto (who was heavily associated with the college that assigned that piece of reading) and an implicit thrashing of warhol

I was joking I know. I don't hate Warhol, but he created a generation of artists whose idea of art is peeing into a glass and speaking in tongues and claiming it's symbolic of racism or something.

I'd be more aggressive if you had this at less than a 5 and were using warhol's bum ass as a bludgeon to hate on this absolutely incredible epochal record

Artists aren't really responsible for who they influence though, wouldn't you agree?
