interesting but the vocalist is akin to a feeble Maynard clone which harms many of the album's well intentioned ideas

Chel is one of the worst rock songs I've heard in the 2000s, in large part due to these horrendous vocal lines.

I don't get you Spirit. Yes this has good ideas thrown in but the overall execution feels so amateur-ish idk. That Shoot The Arrow initial riff is "creative" but it annoys me so much. Like the review mentions the drummer is unhinged on this thing, throwing random fills and switch-ups that feel more like showing off than adding to the songs. Sometimes it works but the verses for Planets had me going "this is the track to show off dude? Really?"
Barricades In Time is a great ballad-y rock song I will say that, Planets as well. Vikraphone has a nice forward momentum going through it and a pretty rippin solo. Sevenfold is a track that works all around.
But man, I can't get over how much I hate Chel in particular. Remember as well. Almost every song has at least one part that leaves me scratching my head. Enter the Cage has such a cool vibe until that awful awful chorus.

the only thing you need to understand about me is that i am fueled by nostalgia
fr though, all valid criticisms though i love the shoot the arrows riff.
kris kohls is a great drummer and really can hear throughout that he wants to do more but is kind of held back by how tame the songs are.
i don't remember chel for some reason but i'm gonna give it a listen now

It's weird cause I feel some sort of nostalgia of how disappointed I was when I listened to it for the first time haha.

Lots of misses on this one but lots of high points as well. I remember coming back to this album a lot when I used to listen to these guys -- probably because it feels more dynamic and atmospheric than their first two. "Remember" is a great track.
